About to paint..give 2 cents
I figured i would sand the bumper down with 320 grit paper, clean it up well. prime it once, said again, wash it up. 2 coats of paint? what do you all recomend on post-painting finishing? should i went sand after a few days? I have painted bumpers before, but i want this to be done RIGHT. so let me know what you paint guys think. right paint? paper? ext.
thanks
Austin
I would only put on as many coats of black as it takes to get even coverage but also take into account that if you will be wetsanding and buffing out you will need a little more coverage to play with when sanding. wetsand with 2,000 grit and then buff out as you would normally on any car.
While I normally agree with all your points on painting, I have a question about painting directly over existing paint. I've been told that certain paints, especially 2K auto paints, can react with the exisiting paint and actually lift it up. That's why a primer or sealer is used by many people before a new base coat is put on. Have you heard or experienced this?
Asking this because pretty much everything I do is new paint to new parts.
