Brightness isnt the issue. Light color is. That is not the intense/pure blue that I am talking about. That appears to be a shade lighter....a light blue as apposed to a pure/medium/deep blue. I was just at a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert last night and they did use the shade of blue that I am talking about. I could focus on all the other light sources and effects except for the ones in pure blue; they were a blur.

Well ANY LED in the HVAC won't look too bright because LED's aren't going to have a wide/scattered light pattern like a bulb will so they aren't going to light all the area up well... I personally would/am going to cheat and use a bulb here

LED's brightness changes with resistance... The more resistance the less bright they are. There is probably more resistance for the power to get over to the that side... Just my guess though...

I have heard of people wiring a 5mm blue LED into the door panels though, I just would like to see a write-up or something to help aid me in this process. I don't know how I would get a blue bulb in there to make the HVAC brighter, but all of the other pictures I have ever seen are brighter than the ones in my car. Can someone also please give me bulb #'s for the map and dome lights?? The main thing I wanna know is the HVAC and door panels.

the 5mm LEDs would be very simple. It may be better tho to use 3mm, 5mm may be too bright.

Just get the 3mm bulb and resistor and a 3mm LED holder. You can get the holders for dirt cheap at radioshack.

Snip the wire right before the factory bulb harness, solder the wires and LEDs to the hot wire and ground wire (don't forget the resistor), drill a 3mm hole, put the holder in the hole and snap the LED in. Hopefully that makes any sense.

I personally can read my whole blue LED interior easier than the red. Not to mention IMO it looks cooler than the red lights. Plus it's different than everyone else.

The only thing I need is to swap out the map and dome lights and steering wheel control lights. Just in the middle of too many projects at the moment and cash is tight. Will post pics soon after I get my new humount in.

It's definetly true... I have blue Cobalts, blue gauge lighting and then the odometer is red led's... MUCH easier to focus on the odometer.

Heck, just look at your HVAC controls (on Camaros at least) where there is a blue and red for the temperature control... The red is easy to focus on and distinguish it's shape where as the blue takes effort...

I disagree. I have a two 5mm LEDs (one for stock bulb). They light up my HVAC controls better than the stock bulbs. I have zero hot spots any where as well, but that's due to me grinding my LED heads flat so they'll dispurse the light better and give no hotspots.

I also used 5mm LEDs in the doors too, but didn't grind the heads. I wanted them directional just like the stock ones looked. They're definitely not too bright either. The size of the LED doesn't determine the brightness of them, it's the MCD. For instance I have some 5mm blue LEDs with a 5000mcd, yet I have some 3mm blue LEDs with a 7000mcd. And yep the 3mm are brighter. I do notice that 5mm LEDs seem to have a deeper color than the 3mm. Not sure why though cause I've been though who knows how many batches of both and it's always been the same.

LS1_Unleased, were you able to use the writeup by Keliente for the HVAC, door, and gauges? (www^keliente^com). I have an extra #74 LED bulb and was considering the idea of using it instead of the 5mm LED. Here's a couple of pictures of my trial fits. Looks like it will work. The 194 style LEDs were too big in the base to go through the hole for that tiny bulb on the switch. Will the #74 LED work and perhaps be bright enough?
