Default Noticable difference between buffers?

My parents got me a Rockford (I think thats the brand) buffer for Christmas. I used it on my moms SUV which probably hasnt been waxed, much less buffed, since the day it was bought a few years ago but I could tell a huge difference. I know everyone preaches the PC buffer but will I really be able to tell a difference, and if so, how much?

The one I got is a 10" buffer with 18V rechargable batteries. I am using microfiber bonnets and for the time being, Meguiars Gold Class wax. I followed up my moms SUV with the ICE polish and it looks phenomenal. My car is still in the garage due to the weather but it will be coming out hopefully this weekend and I want to make it sparkle like new.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the one you have is good for applying wax, and removing synthetics ..it really shouldn't even be used to remove a carnuba, due to the possibility of bonnet overload, which can result in micro marring.

a PC can be used to remove defects in the clearcoat, or paint, if it is single stage, the "buffer" you have really does not have that capability.

nothing wrong with what you have, it is a good tool that can really cut down on the amount of hand work you have to do .. but it does not have the speed, or torque to be able to remove defects like a PC.

so, to answer your original question... Yes, there is a huge difference, and Yes, you will be able to tell.
