Default Base Firebird Body Kit????

I see quite a few base model/formula firebirds that have an added urethane body kit on them. Were these offered as options, or did alot of people add a wings west type kit themselves?

It's called the W68 sport appearance package. It's a special option you can get from the factory. I have it on my car.

yup and only gm has rights to the design. You can order it from gm through any dealer but its like $3000!!!! or you can get lucky and find someone selling them off their own car. Sometimes if you search on ebay for w68 you can find them bt not often. i think they would look so much better molded!

Yea dealerships charge an arm, leg, and kidney for the W68 appearance package.

Are the front air dam and rear bumper just moldings or is it a completely different bumper and nose? The wings west kit looks similar, do they still make it?

The whole W68 kit is a bolted on kit basically. If i wanted to i could remove it all and look just like the base v6 birds/formula

Hey have you ever run your V6? I am interested into what it would run. I have heard a 5-speed v6 bird will give a 98 auto mustang gt a run for its money?

Yes that is true. It would be an extremely close race

I havent run my V6 but i have raced a 3.4 camaro, 3.8 camaro, 2005 Acura RSX Type-S, 2004 Turbo Jetta GLI, 2 99-04 V6 Mustangs and 2000 Eclipse GT and i beat all of them.

Closest was the Jetta GLI. Buddy of mine from work had intake,turbo-back exhaust and a chip and BOV and i beat him by a car at 90..If we went to like 120 he wouldve been in front. We went from a dead stop and i smoked him off the line

i have a v-6 as well as my ls1 and my lt1. I love it still to this day its my favorite, mainly cause it was my first car. I had intake and full exhaust, a ported intake plenum, bigger throttle body, a performance tune, a pcm reprogram, and a stock psi ss rear end with 3.73's and a short throw. That little ****** would slam you in your seat. It got to the point where my lt1 didnt have anything on it. But then the whole smog thing got in the way and now its basically stock. Stock form, the v-6 is VERY restricted. Gm plans on v6 buyers not wanting power so they dont plan for it. Intakle alone really made a difference.
