Default Improving the MAF appearance

My MAF is stock and is painted to match the car but its not to pretty and over time the paint get scratched. I want to dress it up and thought about taking the ends apart and polishing them or chroming them? Can the ends come off easy for me to do the work and then install them?

I even thought about buying the 3.5 ported one from GM that's polished.
Would this be a good upgrade or not worth the $200?

Any ideas or pics of yours since I'm getting ready for show season.

Thanks

if you were looking to go with chrome they make a powder that looks like chrome. Plus it would be alot cheaper then sending it off to be chromed.

Just polish them, that was the first thing I polished on my car. Real easy to do, just start with as ruough a grit as needed to get rid of the casting and work your way up. Use some aluminum polish and they will shine real nice. Good peice to learn how to polish on because you can take it off and put it back on real easy.

Any pics of powercoated or polished? I need to do one of them soon. I wonder if I can get the ends chromed with the screen on there?

It really isnt that dificult, like I said before, If you want to learn how to polish, these are good pieces to start on.

Those MAF ends look bad-***. I tried to clean mine up with steel wool. After a ton of elbow grease, they barely even look clean, let alone shiny. I had no idea how nice they could be made to look.

Here are a couple recent shots of mine that ~Joshua did. I too wanted to do it myself but after talking to him and others about what is involved I changed my mind. Joshua can give you step by step instructions.

Wow, I tried and mine dosen't look like that. I dropped mine off to a local powder coater and polisher to do last week and checked on them Sat. and the Electric was turned off on his shop. Hope he still in business? I need to get my ends back and have someone polished them to a high shine. getting close to show season and I'm getting worried.

Know who can shine them with a quick turnaround? or where I can buy a polished ends? WS6 store don't carry them anymore.
