Polishing taillights

I am thinking of removing them and polishing them with PlastX and a Mother's powerball mini using a variable speed drill.

I have never attempted anything of this nature before. What do you guys think?

I wet sanded mine with 1500, then 2000 grit, then polished them with PlastX, worked really well. No powerball though.
