Nice work. How are you doing the inside of the door handles? Are you doing it by hand or are you using the PC with a smaller pad to get in there? My wife's black car has that, but thankfully not as bad.

Whoops, well sounds like I was way off. I have a similar question about the door handles though, I assume you did that by hand? What did you use to apply polish if it was by hand?

$150 is what my boss was charging people for full details when I did it for a living. Sounds about right to me. 12 hrs sounds about right for a first time. It's hard to prioritize everything at first. When you get it down and just keep at it, it takes about 4-6 hrs depending on the condition of the vehicle of course. Car looks good though man!

I used the PC to get in as far as I could under the handle and then I used one of those polish applicator 3'' pads and did it by hand.

Other people are telling me around here they charge $400+ for a full detail like that... I bet I could cut that time down too once I get a routine going. Where did you work detailing?

On another note, did you make it out to Super Chevy last weekend?

Looks amazing, what do you use to wash the floormats?? I do some detailing on the side and love seeing threads like this. Gives me some good ideas for products to use and stuff. Do you use the powerwasher and diluted simple green to clean your motor also?? Need to detail mine like yours for an upcoming car show, the motor has never been washed. Awesome job though, always do good work.

To wash the floor mats I get them wet, sprinkle some soap for my washing machine and then use my brush to scrub them. Then I powerwash them clean with a wide stream; make sure you get all the soap out! Then I use my brush again and put the stripes in. The only thing I use to wash engine bays are simple green and a powerwasher

I don't get the whole striping thing that people are doing, but the car looks good. I do the same kind of details and have gotten it down to 6-8 hours for something like that. I'm too much of a perfectionist to do it any quicker.

LS1_Unleashed, Your SS is probably the best looking Red/Black themed cars I ever seen. Did you do the "Berger" panel too?

BTW, nice detail job toofazt.

I inquired about polishing at the place I had my windows tinted at and this guy started to ramble off their packages and prices. "Our full detail is $750." Needless to say, I never let them do it but the point is you can charge whatever the hell you want. Besides, I've got all the stuff I need to do it myself except for the time and proper weather.

Lol, I thought it looked kinda funny when I first saw the stripes but then I did it to my Camaro and ever since then I've liked it. Just something different...

$400 sounds ridiculous to me. But it's been 4 years since it was my job so it could be a lot more these days. I detailed cars over at Pacific Auto Sales for a year when they were next to Pep Boys in Upland on Foothill and Campus. I worked at a body shop called L&G Enterprises in San Dimas for 3 years before that. That's where I learned.

I was working on my car (what else is new) this last weekend with my buddy. Didn't make it to the show.
