So wait...do I need to replace the hazards as well? Will the hazards not work if I only replace the turn signal flasher w/ the EL12 and not the hazards? This post is gettin confusing. I'm only swapping out the front blinkers w/ the switch backs...then later down the road, gonna put in LEDs in the rear blinkers.

Your doing what I just did. Swapping out for switchbacks.

From what I have personally done is that I found the flashers not knowing which was which. The first one I replaced turned out to be for the Hazards as the turn signals did not blink. After replacing the other flasher for the turn signals they blink. Now as far as replacing just the turn signal flasher and the hazards working I do not know. I would asume not. You could replace the turn signal flasher first and see if the hazards work and if they do return the other flasher.

Short: Yes you will need both flashers replaced for proper operation of both the hazards and the turn signals.

Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion.

took the bumper off, drilled a 1 inch hole and glued a new tower led in the stock housing. and jumped the wiring

turn signals have 3 wires
1 - high (amber led)
2 - low (running light/white led)
3 - ground

From my experience they will light up white when the headlamps are turned on.

They are amber for the DRL and for your running lights.

With the running lights on they flash white.

With the headlamps on they are white and flash amber.

I am not really sure why he added another bulb. I have not had any problems with them looking washed out or anything like that. You can definatly tell when it switches between the two colors.

Nope. Just pull the old flasher out of the connector and plug the new one in. The connectors are red in color and are in a 90* shape. One on each side. Look for the connectors because you wont see the flasher itself as it is behind some plastic. The connectors should stick out the top and thats what you will see once you remove the lower dash cover.

Get 3157 (white) LED replacements instead of switchbacks or 3157A (amber). The down side is that the turn signals will be white (which may be illegal in your state).

right..but will I still have DRL and running lights at night and signals?? all white?? that is what I want. I have ran white signals for 4 years with no issues. Can you pm me a link to what you got that works like this?? I dont want to lose the functionality of the system and the last LED towers I got would not blink..but that was possibly due to the not having the EL12 flasher also haha.

do you need a bunch of the EL12 flashers or just one does the trick for all your turns (front and back).

you only need one. you dont really need to do the hazzard flasher, it works, it just works slower then normal. but there id not DOT reg that says how many times per minute they have to flash.
