Sand blast LS6 Intake??
Is this safe to do? It has been painted 2x and I need to paint it the color I want. So is it safe to sandblast this lightly to remove the old paint?
Thanks!

i used aircraft? stripper on mine. it's the stuff you can get at autozone.
as long as you don't let it sit on there for an enormous amount of time, it won't eat away at the intake. it makes the paint chunk right up. i used a toothbrush and high pressure water to hit up the crevices that i couldn't rub off with my finger.

you dont have to sandblast it. The ls6 intake is made of polyurethane. sand will eat that away faster than paint. You have a few options here. One, just paint on top of it. Paint is only a few millimeters thick theres plenty of room for a third coat. If anything you got some great primer and sealer right now. Or the second option which is media blasting. You can get a soft compound plastic bb or crushed walnut shells. These were engineered and designed for use on plastics and fiberglas where sand is usually too ruff. Where ever you take it to have it blasted ask them what they recomend. One time in auto class i wanted to sand blast my ls1 intake and my teacher wouldnt let me. He said to media blast if anything. Just my .02
