Yeh he did a shitty job on that 1 lol I know I seen more pictures of american cars doing this too. Main reason I asked is cause my last car was always getting little rock chips on the hood and im sure the tape would prevent it. It seemed like I got a new chip every day soo im sure if I drove even 150 miles 1 way there would be a good chance of getting some rock chips on the camaro.

If you're willing to roll around in painter's tape, then why not just get a bra? It's a lot more expensive but it protects better, looks better, and you can leave it on there (painter's tape shouldn't be on for more than a few hours at a time).

And for those who want to compromise even less in looks, get a clear bra.

I've used Rain X Bug & Tar Protective Shield. I usually spray on a layer, let dry, then 2 more layers.

Completely clear. You can't see it on the paint. Does a good job for bugs and minor stone chips....

Rinses off with water / car wash.

WTF?? Painters tape on your car? ITS FOR PAINTING! If a rock hits it, it will only delay the rock chip for .000001 seconds.

Just get a bra... sheesh.

I've always seriously considered doing this but I've been leary just because I wasn't sure what kind of nasty residue/marks it would leave. Just as simple as some detail spray and microfiber?

duplicolor makes the spray, you can get clear or gray color, wd40 works for bugs, get to the show and wipe off, then spray wax, dont use pam it smears really bad and alot harder to get off

3M makes the clear plastic. My friend has it on his GTO, and you can barely notice.

SPD- you can do a clear bra I have them on all my cars and you can hardly see them.
Here are pics of the tahoe it goes 24 inches up the hood it is on the front bumper, mirrors, door habdles, rear tailgate, a pillars, headlights. You really cant see it. The hard part is finding a shop that knows how to install it right.

i live in lima oh, we had a shop that would put it on, but it was by application. it is called leading edge. nice thick, clear adhesive, can also be put on headlights. the shop manager would do some non application vehichles. it has to be stretched and pulled tight, your tahoe probaly had a kit already cut for it, makes it real easy

None of my cars have "kits" they were all stretched a pulled tight. My good friend owns the shop they use 3M products and he has been doing tint, clear bra, etc... for over 30 years. Clear bra for about 15 years. They have not ever used kits, he prefers to do all the cutting himself.
