You can see the Z28 mark is still on the fender
Refresh my memory....where did I ask "IF" I should take it somewhere?

My questions were....

"Should I get my car detailed?"

AND

"How much will it cost?"

THEN

I stated the reasoning behind me not doing it myself, which I think has been made pretty clear....yet you still respond with suggesting me to do it myself...

Yes you need your car detailed, bad. It will cost about $200. If I was closer, I'd do it for ya.

I'm in school full time as well and work 50-60 hours a week. I definitely understand not having the time to get something done.

The guys that are saying do it yourself are trying to help you in a few ways. It's going to save you some money in the long term due to a decent buffer setup will be about $200 and it sounds like a detail job will be about the same. In addition to this, you will gain some great experience and have a sense of accomplishment once your done. Then, once you gain some experience, you can help out your buddies and potentially make some money.

Do some studying on the topic for the next week and a half then order the stuff you need a few days before classes are over. By the time finals are over you'll have what you need to do the car yourself.

Take one of your 30 minute periods of free time and research the topic (there are threads all over the place now that spring has hit).

Dropped71chevy, I appreciate it, but by the time I bought product and did all that, the time I spent detailing, could have been spent working and paying for most of the detail....

Maybe somebody with that knowledge will tune in and let ya know. Goodluck
+1 i hate when people keep telling someone to do it themself even though he made it specifically clear that he cant. A full detail costs around 80-300 bucks depending where you go

I'm a detailer at Carmax and we charge 180 for anyone that would like their car detailed. This includes hand washing, claybaring, wet-sanding,buffing (scratches, oxidation, acid spots, swirling, fading, etc) polishing, waxing, interior, engine bay, fender wells, wheels and tires, touch-upT. Typically takes about 3 to 6 hours. It is well worth it for you in my opinion, you'd be amazed how different a car can look after a quality detail job. Find a reputable detailing shop and don't feel bad for shelling out the money because the exterior detail will last a while as long as you wash it every so often and don't park it underneath a sappy tree lol.

Good luck!

A local shop here quoted me $230 for an exterior detail for buffing/polishing waxing and such. Where are you going to school for nursing? My wife does the same, I can understand about not having anytime.

You may call and ask. The majority of our workload is prepping cars to be put out for showing on the lot. If you go to the service department, there is a list of the prices of all the work that you can have done. The only thing I am not positive on is if it is limited to people that have purchased a car from us and need work done on that particular car, or if it is open to anyone who just needs work done on their car. I will get back to you on that next time I work.

But I agree for the price it is a great value for all of the work that is done. We follow a set procedure and must meet certain standards to pass a car on as finished. If the panel can't be repaired to a certain quality its repainted. Is there a carmax located by you? If so I think its worth a call. Once again I'll get back to you on whether or not you have to have a car purchased from there to have work done.
