should the vehicle get waxed? the other day i dropped it off at the car wash and the guy asked if i wanted it waxed....dont know why i just said yes. when i came back to pick it up, the paint looked really good. not the typical way it looks after it has just been washed. anyway, it cost me $30 so im wondering how often its recommended. i would always get my other cars polished like once a year and it would look like new. never been one to take good care of paint.

I wouldn't expect a car wash "wax" to last longer than 2-4 weeks (max). Paint needs to be protected at all times.

Instead of taking it to the car wash (which is almost always bad news for paint), I'd recommend finding a quality detailer who can maintain it for you.

Yeah a good deatiler would be good. Like once a week. You could always wax it yourself

Whatever ZaneO says, it's probably right.

Paint (even clearcoat) is porous. It has tiny little hole (pores) in it that collect and hold dirt, dust, inpurities.

Waxes and sealants fill those pores and protect the clear from damage.

If you haven't taken care of the paint, it probably could use a good paint cleaning, polishing with a buffer, and a couple coats of sealant. (basically Zane's suggestion)...

Sealant 3-4 times a year is recommended... (some people call sealants synthetic wax... last significantly longer than carnuba wax)...

so its okay to wax it on every car wash? like i said....i cant really worry too much about the paint since i would die if i did. heat gets up to +110 and the blowing dust and sand will kill the paint. just really liked how it looked. plus i dont have the time to do it myself.
