just get some pliers that have a space when they are fully closed Most pliers have this space used for turning nuts and bolts)
Get it to where you have them around the antenna so it slides up and down but will not slide off because it hits the little ball.
Now just keep trying to force the little ball off by sliding the pliers down the antenna hitting the ball. Do this above a towel or something and slide down forcing the ball to land in the towel!
The first time I did it I was sliding up and then the ball flew off and had to listen for it to fall and look for it! NOT FUN!
Note: Be sure the antenna is off the car while doing this
