Alternatives to factory seat replacement??

Alternatives to factory seat replacement?? My front leather passenger seat bottom has been damaged so I have been looking on e-bay and calling junk salvage yards for a factory replacement.
Unfortunately, apparently,these are somewhat rare and expensive. My car is 8 years old and I think it is not wise to blow $500 replacing a damaged leather seat. (Newsprint got "glued" to the leather and won't come off)
So, what are the alternatives?
Can the seat bottom be re-covered in matching grey leather? Who would do this kind of work?
Are there any other alternatives?
