Default Washing a prepaint VFN hood

My vfn ws6 should be in soon and i was planning on running it unpainted for about 3 weeks to let it cure. Since i wash my car about 2-3 times a week (one hand wash and an occasional touchless) will that hurt my new hood before it's painted?

It won't hurt the hood at all. Some of the gelcoat might come off but it's nothing to worry about. I'd let it cure for a little longer than 3 weeks also. I let mine go for a few months just to be safe.

A few months is overkill IMO. VFN states that you should allow it to cure for a month. Maybe give it 5-6 weeks to be on the safe side. I waited exactly a month and had no problems what so ever.

mine was about 2 months felt stupid having it unpainted but when you get it back from the bodshop you wont be able to stop staring at your car. you want to cure to let the fiberglass adjust to the heat of the motor, otherwise you may get cracks in the paint. i didnt go with vfn jus an ebay hood i got with inserts.

washed it several times by hand and by pay and spray high pressure, never had any problems or side effects now that its painted

Mine started to cure OOOOOO the begining of November. Its off now for about a week awaiting my painter having time. Long enough???? lol As for washing, I just cleaned it as normal. Just dont wax it, only normal soap and water.
