I guess thanks for resurrecting the thread. I'll be doing the ls1 brake upgrade to my el camino later, this has me thinking about polishing instead of paint. I got a perty good supply of sanding & buffing stuff.
To anyone else who just read the thread & is thinking about doing their calipers, there's basically 2 different methods to this.
If you have the real buffing supplies, you can stop sanding at around 400 to 600 grit & go with a stiff pad & the brown or red aluminum stick compounds, then a softer pad & white & or green sticks.
If you don't have the real buffing supplies , wet sand to 1000, then 1500, possibly even 2000 & 3000, then rub with your liquid type aluminum polishes. Lots of opinions on polishes, but the white diamond available @ advance auto parts is a pretty good hand polish for aluminum. I also like a lot of the green colored liquid polishes.
