Mine had it horribly on the rear bumper when i bought it too. Along with a big scuff on it, the previous owner backed into a pole or somthing im sure. It started flaking off and such on the top. I always tried not to aknowledge it, and i never really did too much. It was just the fact that every person that saw the car, that was the first thing they noticed. And that got really old and annoying. I bought another red bumper off an LT1 and put that on. The paint matched up perfect. It just has a little cracking, but only like a 1"x4" section thats barley noticable.

Heres a pic of the original one:

Rear bumper has them. Both bumpers, headlight covers, and sideskirts will be getting repainted real soon .

I have a 98 and yea my rear bumper had when I bought it, although the guy had said he had a girl hit him there. Is it caused by impact? or by something else?

My font bumper used to have them, but only from a minor fender bender. It's all fixed and repainted now though.

Depends on if the bumper has the stree cracks in the material. Paint can only cover / hide so much. Rex

Front bumper all over tried getting pics but the car is sunset orange so the color makes it hard to capture anything real close. just wondering what causes these? at first my car did not have any but after I had hit something a few lil cracks showed up but then it seemed like anything whether i scraped the bottom coming up a hill or anything. Does it just make em start cracking easier after ya hit something? J/w b/c i plan on having the car repainted and if its just gonna be somehting as minor as scraping the bottom on something i wanna be more careful lol

For everyone that's wondering why the paint cracks on our bumpers, it is simply due to the age of the paint and the exposure it suffers to the elements. The paint loses its flexibility due to exposure while little bumps, scrapes and regular flexing of the bumpers that you may never notice cause these cracks to appear gradually. My roommate does body repair and I have seen freshly painted bumpers sitting around all contorted up without any sign of cracking or peeling. According to him, the best thing you can do to keep the paint supple and flexible as long as possible is to protect it from UV damage. That and being careful around obstacles such as curbs, steep driveways, etc will keep your paint spider web free for a long time .

I have them on my rear bumber, I hate them!! My girlfriends sister backed into my front bumber and knocked alot of paint off, got the front repainted and 1 week later my mom backs into the front. So my front bumber has been stripped and repainted, so maybe I'll have a little while before it gets spider cracks.
