I totally agree..but when they break..youve either got to pony up $$$ to fix it or replace it with somthing..
The cheapest fix would be to buy the complete Camaro system including the steel antenna then cut that to make a shorty antenna prolly only cost around 30 bucks..cheaper if you can find a donor Camaro jfor parts
Ive always wondered why GM jdidnt put the antenna in our big assed windshields in the first place

I know this is an old thread...
I know this is an old thread but I thought it might help if someone were looking to find a replacement like myself.

My ex has a 95 camaro Z28 and need this done so I have a question. How does the antenna hook into the radio, is there a simple plug that plugs into antenna in the rear of the car so you don't have to run the antenna wire from the antenna all the way up to the radio or what? I never saw any wires or anything coming from the antenna in these pictures and this is really confusing me about how this is done. I have never changed an antenna except for on my old muscle car (69 Dodge Super bee) and in that instance there was the black wire attached to the antenna and you removed the old antenna along with the black wire and just installed it in reverse. I have not looked at her car yet but want to be prepared before I start and find out its going to take allot longer than expected or that I don't have and can't find a part needed. She already has an antenna she purchased and I haven't seen it but she said she was told when she purchased it that all she needs some type of adapter for it to work for her car. If anyone can help me figure out what adapter (if anyone knows) or what to expect when I start I would be very grateful
Edit: I think I realize what she is saying she needs, I think she needs a female to female adapter so she can hook the antenna cable she has to the antenna cable that's running from the radio to the back of the car
