Default Vinyl stripes

How are vinyl stripes durability wise? And are some better quality or are they all made by the same company? Since I'm stuck using a stock flat hood, I want to dress it up a bit. Is vinyl durable enough for a driver or will it flake and peel. Painted stripes are not an option at this point.

Thanks!

vinyl varies with who makes it...some vinyl is really thin, so it looks like w/e's painted on the car at a passing glance. But, that type of vinyl tends to chip more often...there's thicker vinyl that lasts alot longer, but it's very clear that it's a sticker you put on the car.

That was the plan, but the car is in the shop and btwn the $$$$$ SLP SS hood, the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ OEM SS hood and the long wait for a VFN Sunoco hood, I'm stuck going with a regular 'ol Z28 hood. I got one for $150, and the insurance company gave me a grand towards hood replacement, so I'm thinking maybe either stripes and a Yank converter or an SS rear spoiler and Yank converter.

you want a vinyl that is rated as "hi-performance"
Gerber Scotchcal 220 is a great vinyl.

Just ask the vinyl company...most will use something like a '7 year vinyl' which is supposed to not fade or peel for 7 years.

I shopped around a lot when I had the vinyl put on my car, but the end result was well worth it. I got 10 year vinyl and after having it on there almost exactly a year, it still sparkles and looks like it did when I first had it put on. We also added the pinstripe around it to help it blend in with the rest of the car, but I get asked all the time who painted my stripes on. Done correctly, it will look very good and last a long time.
