I did the same thing a few years ago...Honestly the latch was as tight feeling as the other one, so im thinking since I didnt lock it down, it wiggled loose....

I think I had a heart attack when it happend, and it almost hit a car behind me!

Thank god

I would say so! After that, I always locked them down and never had a problem

You should also lock them becuase they are very easy to steal

I know what the problem is! You had your t-tops on the car!

When I had my Z28, the tops were always secured in the hatch. 25 degrees out with the T-tops off...mmmm mmmm good.

That sucks man. Ive had someone while driving down the highway think it was a handle to grab onto. So they decided to start turning it, and i was like "oh ****, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!" Good thing i was on the ball and grabbed ahold of it and locked it back down before something bad happened.

Had mine fly off of my old v6. Just got done putting in an intake kit when I decided to give it a little test run. When I hit about 70 whoosh! I couldn't grab it on time. It flew off when I was over a bridge. So I pulled over and had to hop a barb wire fence to get it. Thankfully it landed flat in mud and didn't break, not even a scratch. Just as I was getting back over the fence a patrol officer asked me if everything was ok. He said he saw it happen and started laughing his *** off! Ha ha. I'm glad he didn't notice my speed because it was a 35 mph zone!

This is retarded. SFCs DON'T help secure your t-tops, and I don't care what anybody says. What secures t-tops to the roof is the pin that connects to the body. If that pin is not wedged in properly, it won't hold your t-tops.

You honestly think you'll get any measurable flex from the chassis, or even ENOUGH to clear that pin?

i lost my drivers side t top ona 2-3 shift in savannah spankin a mustang GT...thankfully nobody got hurt..it blew up in the grassy middle...the hard part was telling the wife i needed a new t top and i got mine on EBAY for like $80+shippin...i always lock mine now...at the time i did not have my B MR subframe connectors in...after i put them in...i no longer have that issue to worry about....and if you are making decent power..getting good 60's check under your hatch for stress fractures/ or cracks...you'll see what i mean

Yea... thats what i was thinking as well. I have weld-in SFCs and don't think they would have anything to do w/ t-tops flying off (or not flying off rather). From what I understand, it's all about where the pin is located due to a few wrong pulls of the t-top latch. I dont think SFCs would ever be a factor

You are correct sir.

What's more distressing than people believing SFCs will help with t-tops staying on, is people who believe that t-tops fly off even when latched. Folks, if that pin is not in, those t-tops aren't staying on. I don't care if you have SFCs welded onto SFCs, and you turned that latch 360 degrees.

T-tops will STAY IN if they're PINNED in.

when me and my buddy were out in his camaro before i bought mine, we nailed it down a country road, and at about 60mph the pass side flew off, took my hat with it, we went back to see how bad it shattered, and surprisingly it landed in the water in the ditch on the side of the road, and was fine. just had to wipe it off.

suck. I had a friend in high school who had a monte carlo with t-tops, and while he was driving on the highway his g/f grabbed the handle thinking it was an oh **** handle, and there went the t-top!
