Brake rotor Hat Q
Brake rotor Hat Q I just bought some slotted cross drilled rotors (driveway jewerly) Before I install them, should I paint the hat portion with black duplicocor? Will It hold up or rust?

Mine came I believe zinc coated, so they haven't rusted yet. So if yours aren't coated, I would paint them now. I just pulled my sons wheels off this weekend and painted the caps because they were rusted from not being coated. Either way it's no big deal.

Mine didn't come from there, I'm just going to wait till I notice, then I will paint mine with the caliper paint. I didn't use caliper 500 degree paint on my sons gtp, so I want to see how long before the heat gets them. So far I have no signs of rust and his regular paint is still holding up.
Best to have bought either zinc or nickel washed rotors - especially if they are drilled and/or slotted.
Forgetting about the hub - on uncoated rotors all the slot cavities and the crossdrilled hole chamfers will rust - the pads will not clean off this rust as it is in areas below the surface of the rotor. In a short time all you will see is a mass of rusty holes and slots
A friend thought he'd cut cost and buy uncoated rotors for his vette - after 3 months he was REAL sorry - the rust in areas described ruined the look of his new rotors. Then he had to send them out to my plater and have them blasted and nickel plated - cost him waaaaay more than it would have to get them that way to begin with.
