Getting rid of paint chips on front
What would be the best/cheapest way to make it less noticeable (if not perfect), without my car looking ghetto. It's an 02 Navy blue metallic. I wash my car frequently, so it'd have to be pretty permanent. Thanks
- Work one chip at a time.
- Clean the chip with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. A little more paint might come off. This is a good thing, since that paint wasn't adhering to the surface anyway.
- Shake the paint well. Don't use the brush that comes with it. It leads to globs, which are bad. Instead, I use a toothpick to apply a very thin coat.
- Wait about 15 minutes, then apply another thin coat.
- Keep doing this until the level of paint in the chip is just higher than the surrounding area.
- Let the paint dry overnight.
- Using plenty of water, wet-sand the spot with 2000 grit sandpaper, to make it level with the surrounding area.
- Polish out the sanding scuffs with a good polish (Tropi-Care TC-8, Menzerna Final Polish 2, etc.)
- For best results, let the new paint cure for about 30 days before applying wax.
I'd like to repaint it, but it's not really in the budget at the moment. Chipped paint doesn't bother me as much as being slow does
