Default Freakin' Sweet!!!

What engine did you have before? You doing the work yourself? And my last question, what's the cost range? I want to eventually dump the 3800 V6 from my firebird and put in a V8, but I sure don't have a shop to do it in myself, or all of the knowledge needed. Anyway, that 414 looks nice! I'd love to see Dyno and 1/4 mi. slips when it's in and running! Swat

swiat34 it was a v6 car and yes i am dong all the work myself and it was an auto, in all honesty the cost of this (i have been able to spend more since im doing all the labor) is more than most would consider spending for this type of project, but look up the cost of haveing an engine built then buying all new suspension a rear end and a tranny, it adds up to a lot, but then again most who do this swap start off with a ls1 pull out that you can just grab for now very close to 2500 for tranny and all accessories with ecm, and they start there but i figured im gonna do it i might as well do it, full suspension from umi 9 inch rear and the motor was from a former sponser.

but to sum it up for what i have in this i could have baught another ta and kept the 6 and baught a nice low mileage one, but it is possible to do a swap like this on a budget, i went the opposite way and did this project based on a goal (kick ***) but i have been buying parts for this since december of 2005 didnt get the motor in until feb 1 of this year. so its truely been a long road, but its almost done and i credit this site for most of my knowledge i have lurked around for quite sometime now reading and asking questions and the groundwork for this kind of stuff is already out there and i have learned a few things that people didnt know which is a plus for those looking to do it.

but thanks for the comments guys i too look forward to seeing numbers im hopeing for 550rwhp but some after reviewing my setup are less than enthusiastic about obtaining those numbers

blackbyrd, Thanks for the insight. Your car is a motivation for me! When I get mine paid off I'll keep 'making payments' to my savings and try to get a swap in short order. I almost wish I was like 90% of the people around here and be 23 and live at home with my parents for free and be able to use all of the money from my job to put **** on my car! I know TOO many of those here in Jackson! They have nice cars, tho! lol What did you do with your stock drivetrain? Did you sell it? If so, what kinda return did you get? Swat

i sold most of it most of the suspension i still have
but sold the engine and rear end
and im about to get rid of the trans

consider yourself lucky if you get 1000 out of the drivetrain they just arent in demand like the ls1's
you might have better luck on ebay but i refused to ship so they put in me in a smaller market pool

thanks for the comments guys

Are those the covers that cover the coils, or just really tall valve cvers. Thatd be cool it the wires ran through holes in the top and made them look like old Hemi heads

yeah these are my super mega devistator heads mu hahahahahaha

i looked at the valve covers you are talking about something just didnt set well with them for me. that and i would be affraid to use them that a lot of close un disapatable heat in a very tiny area with one small hole for it to vent. i know that the coils set on the heads practically but they arent boxed in metal either

well i have hit a impass in a multitude of area's
1. trying to run fuel lines and avoid exhaust tooking into running them down the driveshaft tunnel and next to the tranny and up the back, and the last 2 fittings i need are on back order (feed line 3/8's adapters which is the backside of the rails so i cant put it off)

2. running steel braided heater hoses cant find the parts i need to convert npt to an simply

3. wiring harness which i got from a nonsponser but do mostly ls1 stuff into older hotrods
i wasnt aware i was getting just a standalone engine harness i thougth it would atleast have some of the accessories for it, and i sold the harness that came with the ecm i bought for this project) so i am at the impass of rewire the whole car or send back a 700 dollar custom harness and try and find a used harness
