Default Superhawk Hood Owners Inside

What airbox did you guys end up using after you got the hood?

can you post some pictures?

I know someone made an airbox just for that hood, but I think it was almost $300...anybody have one?

Way to drag up an old thread right? I was wondering the same however. I bought mine with the (non-superhawk)hood/airbox set-up. The airbox doesnt look right to me however. I would like to see what some others have done.

You dont have to at all no. But in order to make the hood functional you do need an airbox.
Making the hood functional probably doesnt flow as good or any better than just using a lid.

so what your saying is that what i have will work but to optimize it ill need a high rise air box intake? i may be a little confused about what you are saying if im wrong. i already have a lid and i have the nostrils on the hood opened up so air will flow through. but like i said i havnt put the hood on to see how well everything lines up.

Yeah .. you will be just fine with the set-up you have.

With the raptor hood (which Im pretty sure is the same as the Superhawk) Air comes in through the nostrils and down onto the top of the air filter. I believe LT1 SS cars are the same.
I can snap a pic if it helps any

Forgive the dirty car..
Air goes in the nostrils... up and around a divider/water break and down into the air filter.
There is also a rubber surround for the underside of the hood. Car was bought like this and Im currently looking for weatherstripping.
I was under the impression Superhawk hoods were this way as well but I could be way off. If so I apologize Kamaa. Your stock airbox will still work but to be completely honest. I have absolutely no idea how WS6 airboxes are different from stock lol. Guess I learn something every day.

my superhawk hood is different than your raptor hood. the superhawk has no divider it is just a straight entry into the engine bay from the scoops.

Is the filter the same? I could cut out the divider but rain etc would dump directly on the filter. If K&N made a waterproof outerwear for the Filter it would be an option.

yeah, I have the stock air box, I have no idea why there is no divider in the superhawk hood? I can look right through the mesh on the hood and see my airbox? I have not driven the car since I put the hood on and I am a little worried about water getting in.

anyone know of a solution?

"Outerwears" makes water-resistant very breathable material. I have used outerwears on ATV filters and they bead water right off while breathing very well.
Im sure you could buy the material from them or modify an ATV "airbox cover"

well ill try to get some pics up tomorrow for yall. now as far as i know roger at US exotics was the guy who came up with the superhawk hood but he only made around hundred of them if that. the one i got is (from what i was told) a direct cast of an original. as for fitment i cant guarantee that because i havnt tried it on but i should start on my body work and paint here in the next week or two so i can post updates if anyone is interested. if anyone one is interested for more info about how to get the hood shoot me a pm since its a nonsponsor.
