Default Grill Removal Question

I need to ditch my stock grille, and open up the front of my car for the addition of an intercooler as well as a 28K GVW tranny cooler.
What are my options for a replacement that will leave the front grill unobstructed for max air flow? I have seen alot of the rice-a-roni crowd using mesh to cover thier old grill holes to get more air accross thier intercoolers. Is thier a precut kit out there, or am I looking at some fabrication to meet my plans?
If I have to fab up my own grille, I figure the mesh kit from APC, powdercoated black would probley look nice. I dont care for billet, and I dont like the nostalgia looking grilles that resemble old detroit muscle (70's wide slot grills) So help a brother out. Where should I start looking?

You could also use a Wings West grill, it's open on the sides.
Judging by the setup of your car, I'd assume you've removed the front bumper support already?
It would block airflow through the grill.

Click the pic in my sig and you can see my Wings West grill.
