what to polish metal with?
what to polish metal with? What do you guys use to take off the rough cast metal finish with? I am using a flat die grinder and it works fine, but i wondered if there is a better way. Then i use my dremel with with the polishing wheel. But when i am done my parts don't look as good as some i've seen on here. I am doing my ac lines, brake master cylinder, basically anything that can be polished. Help a brother out.
Use a Dremel with a carbide bit on it to knock down the rough casting marks. Then sand till smooth. Then use at least a 6" buffing wheel with progressively finer compounds till you get the shine you're looking for 
Move up from 300, 500, 1000, 1500. I like to wet sand also because it keeps the sand paper from getting clogged w/ aluminum. It will take you a couple of hours to finish a throttle body sized piece...
i say mothers billet polish or the all metal polish they come in a jar like wax i used mothers miniball and did it for 10 min came out shinny...
did the tb by had for like 10 minuts and you can see the reflection.
dont kno but i think i got the cheap one like 6 bucks the other is about 15.....
but yeah use sand paper ans the dremmel little sanding sponge things the work fast ans great for the hard to reach areas but they dont last but i think 2 for 4 bucks is worth it get the lines first and watch out for sharp edges it rips the sponges up faster.
took me about 3 hours for my TB but i took it off and took out the creases.
