I did it... I just bought a cheap battery box, and ran #2 welding cable from the battery back up to the fuse box. Battery is now in the spare tire area. Also, you will need to ground it, and I did it at several locations around the car.

Advantages... Make room for some goodies .

Moving the battery to the rear near PS rear tire does indeed make room for much crap under the hood in the area where the battery was, but, the true reason to do this is to remove the weight of the battery from the front and place over PS rear tire to improve weight transfer of car when launching at strip.

summit and jegs both carry a battery relocation kit. Depending on the track you may need to switch to a dry cell battery. If you dont go that way you have to get a sealed battery box with a vapor tube that leads to the outside of the vehicle. Similar to a blowdown tube for a nitrous bottle. As stated above the main reason for doing this in drag racing is weight distribution for the front to the rear which will help with traction. Also gives you room up front for things like a standalone fuel cell. If you dont need the space for something like that and you dont care about drag racing i would just dress up the battery with Specialized Stainless battery cover. its cheaper then relocating and looks great
