if i remember right the udm is a badass version of the portercable....in which case *generally* no, you will not damage your paint. tropi care products are awesome, and will definitely work well with your new udm. hopefully steve from tropicare will step in a speak for his own products....he'll tell you everything you want to know good luck!

Congrats on a great gift. Go to Tropi-Care's website for directions on using the buffer. Take your time and start slow. In no time you will feel very comfortable. Tropi-care products work great with the PC or UDM. PM me if you have any specific questions. You don't list where you are located, but it doesn't snow here so your not close to me. Maybe there is a dealer or member close to you to help you get started. Both of those machines are very user friendly.

I have used both machines quite a bit and you'll have no problems with its use. The trigger switch on the UDM is extremely sensitive and can be accidentally turned on by bumping it. The switch is covered under warranty and is an easy fix.

The UDM is very closely aligned with the PC in many respects. The UDM does have a little smoother and tighter rotation at increased speeds compared to the PC. It claims to have about 20% more power with its top speed at about 7200 OPM vs. 6000 on the PC.

The only way to damage the paint is to drop the machine on the car. There are a number of variables to give you results on the paint. Pads, products, machine speed and rate of movement are just some of them. Don't be afraid to start with a less aggressive combination such as the white pad and Swirl Cutter to get a feel for the machine.

Remember there are plenty of us here with experience who can guide you while you are learning for yourself. Just ask. The only foolish questions are the ones that aren't asked or asked after it's too late for correction.

A upgraded model from the PC, should work great . Camaro's typically have a pretty hard clear coat so it takes some work getting those swirls out.
