Default Meguiars #80 or #9 for first step??

Was thinking either the #80 or #9 for the first step and then pure polish #3 or #5 and then hand wax with #26. What are your opinions on this? Don't want to have to buy both for the 1st step and see what works better. It is for a black car that is in great condition and will be using machine for steps 1 and 2. Thanks for the help.

Well I don't have any experience using #80 but I have used #9. #9 will mainly improve gloss and possibly rid very minor swirls. If you have a decent amount of swirls you'll need something strong then #9.

I would say very light micro swirls from waxing/ washing very very lught in the direct sunlight if that makes any sense.

I'm pretty sure I understand what your saying. If thats the case then #9 should be fine... however I would be worried that whatever wax you use could also be hiding a lot. If you clay bar the car you'll notice that more defect will become noticeable.
