NEED HELP! white paint and clear coat
NEED HELP! white paint and clear coat im cleaning up my engine bay on my trans am. i got it all painted up white yesterday and im waiting for it to be good and dry. my friend said he heard that the clear coat in a rattle can when sprayed over white makes it have a yellow tint to it. anyone have direct experience with this. i would hate to ruin my 30th. it looks so rad as it sits now but some clear would really set it off.
yeah most clearcoat that is... not the best quality.. will turn it a yellow tint, and white will def. show up. if you could i would get some House of Kolor or PPG clear coat, or just your local auto/paint store brand.. just ask the guy if it will turn yellow over time lol. if you have access to a spray gun or know someone that is decent with one. it will look a ton better and wont turn yellow.

It usually does, there are very few brands out there that won't.
For $150 to $200 you could get 8oz PPG Base(16oz sprayable) and a quart of PPG speed clear, and primer(with all the reducers and hardeners) . Then get a Prevail refillable spray bottle $5 at Napa.
Costs more of course but your good job will last several more years.

I've had good luck with the duplicolor clear rattlecan surprisingly. It's not too bad far as durability. I painted a front panel with white and clear rattlecans on my old grand prix a while ago just cause i'm cheap, but i wetsanded it and everything and it turned out pretty good. It's pretty cheap too. My advice is though to try some on a piece of plastic or something, just paint white then try some clears. If you like the turnout then go for it.
