Cleaning discollored stainless headers. I was talking with a friend last night about cleaning the Kooks headers I bought used so they would look great for the upcoming install. Wire wheel acid, metal cleaners/polishers ect. nothing would clean up the brown discolloraion.
I found something that works great, I tried some heavy duity rubbing compound with a piece of red scotch bright. It cleaned them up better than new and required little effort.
Believe it or not these headers are approx. five years old.
How long they stay this nice is a different story all together.

I could be wrong but I believe the brown is from the oil used during the bending process. Now that its been cleaned free of any oils I hope to just have the usual blue/red discolloring.... I will soon find out.
