It depends greatly on the hardness of the clearcoat (obviously not a concern in GM's case in which it's like a rock), the cut of the polish, and the cut of the pad. An Orange Lake Country pad with Menzerna Super Intensive on our cars sitting in one spot may not even touch some marks, but will burn through another car's paint (Honda). Do a lot of research. That is all I can tell you. I've been researching and detailing for 5 years and am still learning things.
