That is the question.
This needs to be done. I am willing to be the guinea pig to get the aiirbag to work. Problem is I don't know **** about the inner workings of steering wheels. If this can manage to be done I think the factory wheels will be getting swapped out, a lot! I am going to try and find a C6 3 spoke that hasn't popped.

The wheel itself can be had for like $60 on ebay. Remember the G6 and Malibu use the exact same wheel. Some have steering controls and some don't. Also the colors are all different. I think the Vette wheel would be really close to Ebony, and the Malibu wheel might be close to Charcoal cause it's lighter. The G6 wheel is BLACK so it's going to be dark in either interior. I was planning on having the wheel itself re-wrapped to match my new interior, and then just dying whichever airbag I get to match. It's the airbag that is the killer...the Vette ones go for $600+

The only difference with the three-spoke wheel airbag vs. the f-body airbag is that it's a "second generation" bag that has two different deployment rates (two different charges, each with their own control circuit). I BELIEVE that we could just hook up the "full power" circuit to our controller and it would work just fine. You wouldn't have the "second generation" functionality, but it would still be every bit as good as the factory f-body airbag.

Like I said, I will get to this, but probably not until fall.

Let me know when you do, I can probably squeeze it in my budget for the rebuild, but not for $600, I will try to find one out of a wrecker for less and if I do I will get it. I'll send you a PM if I actually find one soon.

That first Momo wheel and the similar Grant wheel look great to me.....my only question would be how would not having an airbag wheel affect the vehicle inspection? Pass/fail?

I got my D/L in 1978, so I drove the first 12 (and most reckless) years of my driving "life" without an airbag....and have never had one go off since I've had them in my '90 and '99 Camaros.

I always keep my eyes moving and try to anticipate stupid manuevers by my fellow "drivers" (and I use that term very loosely!) I rarely get surprised enough to have to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision...

just a thought , i really like the wheel in my 01 Z71, new on ebay 100 bucks or so ( no airbag ) but the 98 - 99 camaro wheels are ugly , spline should work, how about the airbag hook up ? plus it has the bowtie in the center !
