I just spent about 10 hours smoothing out the LT1 casting including removing the casting number and misc bumps. I'm still unsure the color I will be going with but I believe I will powdercoat it mirror black, and them super gloss clear over that exposing the polished fins.

I'm more interested in seeing the valve covers mounted with the OTVC wires. I have wanted Canton's for a while but didn't want to cover them up with my spark plug wires so I've always shyed away for them.

Yea I've seen the side mounts but I hear their a PIA compared to the top mounts. But they are easier to deal with if you ever have to pull your valvecovers.

Update! I've been powdercoating these parts at home with this $80 powder coater I got off ebay like a year ago. Everything is going really good. The powder itself it pretty cheap itself being about $10 per pound, and thats enough to cover about 2 intake manifolds. Also I've been using a bench grinder to turn 3 different polishing pads to get the shine that you can get any hardware store.

More to come!

Sanded, primed, painted and cleared the power steering reservoir and fuse box cover. I got the billet cap off ebay and i made and polished the top plate. The pictures don't give these justice; they really bling.

You need a second oven in your garage to powdercoat parts. I sandblast the parts, then chemical clean them, then powdercoat and bake them. If you just spray a little brake clean on them and call it done then you will get bubbles all over the part. It has to be perfectly clean.

Nice work!! I've got a polished PS reservoir I'm working on that might interest you as well. Cant wait to see your engine bay assembled!

Yea on the PC, I sandblast and then the PC'er I use gives them an "agressive" acid bath before they coat them. ( NOT sure what agressive means, guessing some really nasty chemical..lol)

As stated if they arent perfectly clean they will bubble and ruin the paint job.
