Default Headlight - sand and polish question

I had one foggy/yellow headlight and I used wet sanding and novus polish per the sticky. The headlight is still slightly less clear than my other headlight, which looks brand new. I used the "step 3"(heavy scratches) polish once, "step 2"(light scratches) polish three times and "Step 1" polish twice. Should I hit it with step 2 a couple more times maybe?

depending on the the degradation of the light itself it most likey wont ever look as good as a headlight that is brand new or like brand new. What grit sand paper did you use? you might want to go with 800 then work yourself slowly up to 2000 and try the novus again. good luck

I'm about to post a thread with pics of a headlight clenaup i did.. I used 1500 grit sandpaper. Wetsand the light until the yellow residue turns white, which means your down to clean plastic. I'm not so sure about the polish, as I use something called system one polish.. If you want more info pm me, it's great.

I wet sanded with 400, 800, and 1500 for about 10-15 min. each. The yellow is completely gone but its not as chrystal as the other headlight. I did notice in the stangnet sticky that the guy used 2000 grit. I might just try that.

When you use the polish are you applying it by hand or by a buffer? If you use a buffer it'll help alot. You shouldn't need anything stronger than 1500 grit.. After you sand it's all about the polish to get rid of the sanding scratches. However, if you used 400 grit sandpaper you have to make sure you have a polish to remove such heavy scratches.

I was using the cloth that came with the novus kit and doing it by hand.
