Default FINALLY Engine Bay pics and more!!!

Well, I had made another premature post when I started getting stuff painted and powder coated as I FINALLY addressed my engine bay... Decided to just make a new post since I had some other pics of my car from the show today for LA INVASION

Don't have any real before pics but it was hideous. Picture dull, scratched up and dirty factory paint... crappy spray painted red valve covers... and everything else just plain old and ugly... and you get the idea.

I did the wire mod...

Painted the engine bay (metallic blue and satin black) myself...

I got covers (PCM, FUSE and BRAKE RESEVOIR) from SPECIALIZED STAINLESS (thanks Steve), had them and some new (new to me) valve covers powder coated (PCM and BR are black, rest is red)...

And did some cleaning

Here's pics from today, enjoy!

Cool Intake Plate that Dylan (Lordhelp) gave me with the intake when I bought it from him:

PCM Cover:

Optima Redtop:

CUSTOM PLAQUE Steve made me to match the emblems on my seats:

Brake Resevoir Cover:

Fuse Panel Covers (I actually plan to install factory fuse panel stickers on them and then they will match the look of the Optima Redtop perfectly):

Finally, here's a pic of me by the car (Mike, sommer86, took it):

I have some more pics I am about to post in this thread but this was all the engine bay stuff...

So what do you guys and gals think? I like it

My goal was tasteful and factory feel... I do not like to just chrome/polish anything and everything. I want it to look nice but it is a daily driver, not a disco ball

Then again, that mentality is probably why I don't get a second look from judges at shows

The money is there, over $400 just on the stuff I mentioned in the beginning of this thread, but the Godawful "bling" that catches judges' eyes, like a simple minded child who likes shiny things, is not .

I spent alot of money to make it unnoticeable to the untrained eye that I have done anything and I like it that way

Looks good, I really like that GM Performance badge on the lid to match the ones on the seats.

it looks good for sure, there are some things you can do to def make it stand out, coil relocation, oil cap, get rid of the silver tape on the wiring, etc.

it does look clean though.

Thanks guys! Don't really want it to "stand out" just look good and be as symetrical to the eye (and have the eye drawn to the engine, jewel box effect) as possible...

I'll hit the silver tape with some black electrical first chance I get

Not really a fan of coil relocation though, I like our short plug wires

My inspiration for the car was the Prototype ZL1. I loved the engine bay, clean and functional. Red valve covers said performance and looked good but the rest looked stock, not even a set of FRC's. I like FRC's on some cars, just never wanted any myself...

Here, I'll be lame and post what I have framed at the car shows so you know where my build was coming from:

Looks great! Everything balances out really nice. I suggest wrapping your fuel line heat tape with black tape or with oblong looming to cover/clean it up.

I see that you have a fuel pressure sender. Do you have a guage or do you just use it for logging and tuning? Where did you get the adapter.

I've always loved your car since i joined here. You nailed the factory supercar look, and it's pretty badass overall.

Is that a stock water pump? I thought I read that 98s had a bolt on and off WP but my wifes 98 TA has a pressed on one like my 02 does. Maybe it was replaced at some point? I wonder if you can buy a replacment 98 pump and get one with a bolt on pulley? I really want to get one chromed (yeah, that "bling" the judges loved you were talking about..lol).

Does anyone know where to get a new one??? And if so I asume it will bolt on a 2002 right?
