Default New Stering wheel.

As the title say.. I have installed a new stering wheel! And I could not be happier! the road feal was increased, the driving experience got so mutch beter than before. And a huge + is that the Sparco 375 racing wheel looks mutch beter than the hideous stocker.

It was an straitforward install. Removed the airbag, removed the nut, used a "gear puller", bolted it to the wheel and pulled the wheel from the axle.

Installed the new Momo wheel center. But i had to glue the horn linkage to the wheel and i had to kut the wire to the airbag. What do you guys think?

Before:

After, niotice the new pedals as whell.

I prefer the safety feature of the air bag on the OEM wheel..over the aftermarket steering wheel...if we were all the same it would be a dull world ..

Thanks guys! About the saftey isue.. I have never had a veichel with an Airbag, so why would i now, i rather have a wheel that i can gripp whell instead of a whel that my hands can slip on and hit something because of that. What i would have done if i wanted to keep the Airbag, is that i whould have bought a steringwheel from a new corvette or something else and install that one instead.

how hard is it to actually take the steering wheel off and put one of those on and how much did you pay for the whole kit?

The removal and instalation was the most simple instal you can imagine.. exept for one thing. And that is to make the horn to work as it should.

i'm thinking about throwing in an aftermarket steering wheel too. i've made quite a few searches and the horn comment has come up a bit. what is the deal with the horn? was it tough to glue the horn contact to the wheel? since you cut the airbag wire, how did you get rid of the airbag light? thanks!

how'd you do the horn?

I've done several horns w/ momo wheels. Integra and talon. but how would this one be?

is the horn wire loomed into the srs reel?

The deal with the horn is that you have a swivel that connects the horn to the button. The swivel is jus a metal ring bellow the connection bolt (the ring is not fully visible). The cable to the horn has a plastic tube with a spring and a small button, which is the contact surface to the swivel. On the stock wheel it is mounted from the front side and slips into a grove where it stays. When you replace the stock wheel with the momo hub, there is a grove where you can mount the cable. But when I installed the wheel in the correct position the hole where still of, and I was not able to install it in that way. So what I did was, I glued the plastic tube to the other hole with epoxy glue, so it stays there.. then it depends on your wheel how well the horn button works. Sparcos horn button sucks. It wont connect as it should.

intergraxtc: AS i wrote. but how did it work on the cars you have built?

To get rid of the Air bag light, you need two 3.3ohm resisters run in parallel, connecting the two air bag wires.

I didn't have any trouble getting my horn to work. Its not that hard to get to work.
