Cleaning Oil Pan and Accessories

Well since my engine is tore down I figured that I would try to clean up my discolored oil pan and other accessories (water pump, alt., etc). I have some bad to the bone degreaser "Yellow Jacket" but that stuff oxidizes everything I have ever cleaned with it. So that is out of the question because I'm not a big fan of my aluminum being oxidized. What do you guy's use? Is there something I could spray on or do to keep the Yellow Jacket from Oxidizing? I've never really detailed an engine bay before so I'm not exactly sure what works! Please Help Guys!

I use Simple Green and a green 3M Scotch Brite pad.

simple green will oxidize aluminum if you don't wash it off well enough. I used it on my oil pan and I didn't wash it off quick enough and it left white oxidized spots on the pan and on the alt. bracket
