Camaro Center Vent Gauges?

Camaro Center Vent Gauges?
Has anyone ever mounted Autometer 2-1/16th gauges in their center vents on their cars? Similar to how the Trans Ams do it, only with their round holes? I was thinking about cutting the center piece out of the vent area, and putting my 3 gauges in there. I have some really nice "Chrome Mirror Polished Aluminum" and also some Carbon Fiber left over, I could cut to size of the vent opening, drill three holes, and put the three gauges in. I personally think it would look pretty good, just wondering if anyone else has done it, I've neve personally seen it...
Heres a quick idea of what Im talking about, only with nice chrome aluminum, or carbon fiber backing.

While thats a good idea, I was talking about completely removing the vents, and using a chrome or carbon backing for the gauges, and in the center vent area, above the radio.

Tons of time and patience.
It's not easy to replicate, I've tried.
Here's the only close-up I have.
Ouch. I do not know of anyone who has put 3 gauges there either.
Why not delete everything on that bezel and place 3+ gauges there?
It'd probably be just as easy to change the whole piece as it is to change where the vents sit.
Unless you plan on keeping the radio.

I worked on it on and off for a few months and redid it a few times because I wasn't happy.
So I'm not really sure how long it takes/took.
Pick yourself up some fiberglass to work with.
It's really not that hard to screw around with and those bezels go pretty cheap.
THE hardest part is finding time and patience.

So I found that if I put the three gauges in the center vents flush, without the autometer angle cups, they will be fine, but if I use the angle pieces, they are too big, so Im trying to decide if I should just put the gauges in flush, or loose the radio, and put them where the radio was. Its not much of a "cruiser" anymore, and is usually too loud to hear the radio in anyways, but Im just not sure.

It will look much cleaner and closer to stock if you cut the radio a replace it with and flat panel (to mount gauges in it).
Those angle'd pieces look nice.
