How do you take the headlights out safely?
How do you take the headlights out safely? Hopefully this is the right forum, I didn't know if it should be here or in the paint / body work, move if necessary.
I need to take my headlight out for wet sanding and paint, but I'd rather not have to re-adjust them after putting them back in. I did a search on google and here and came up with nothing. So what's the easiest and safest way to get them out? And will they need re-adjusted once they're put back in?

As long as you don't turn the adjustment screws, they will be in the same lighting adjustment if re-installed correctly. Just unbolt the 10mm and then slide the tabs toward the inside of the car and remove.
should be only two 10mm bolts (or nuts) holding each one in. one on the top center and one down kinda low between the light and the fender. in the same vicinity of those two bolts/nuts you should notice a philips head adjustment screw. those screws adjust the light pattern, you wont have to turn either of these for removal. just back the two 10mm bolts/nuts out, unplug the harnesses, and gently work the light out of the bumper. it can be kind of a pain at first but once you've done it a time or two, you'll have it under control.

Tip: Tuck a towel into the gap between the headlight and bumper and let it hang over the bumper in front of the lights when removing them. There's going to be lots of wiggling and pulling, and it's very easy to mark up the bumper in front of the headlight if you're not careful.

Cool thanks for the help. I thought it was just that one nut, but I wanted to make sure. With my luck there'd be 2 and I'd sit there pulling and tugging thinking it's just a bit tough to get out and break something. My biggest fear was that I'd have to re-adjust the lights.
