Problem with sequential tail lights.

Problem with sequential tail lights. I used bfrankers instructions to install the web electrics sequential flashers. I did this in my 1997 Formula and did the full install. Everything worked well for the first day or so when suddenly the middle bulb on the driver's side refused to light. I checked all my connections and they are solid.
Suspecting a bad sequential flasher, I contacted web electrics who sent out a replacement. This did not fix the problem. The gentleman on the phone said that I likely have a short somewhere. Are there any other Firebirds or Camaros which have reported a similar problem? Has anyone heard of anything like this? Very strange that it would work for a day and then give out.

Yeap, I think I know whats wrong on your car... seems like you have a bad bulb socket, get a replacement out of a newer firebird...and I mean the whole harness not just one socket!!! Don't ask me how I know, but I installed a harness out of a 2002 trans am on my car, direct fit and I also have sequential taillights.

Oh wow- I didn't expect to get this advice! Glad to hear it wasn't something I did 
When it comes to wiring, I'm likely to mess it up if I'm not extra careful.
I emailed Brent Franker who was kind enough to email back and also suggested the socket issue. Maybe to verify 100% I'll switch a couple sockets and see if that does it.
Is it expensive to buy the sockets? I'd imagine GM would charge two arms and two legs for it.
