Default TCS/ASR relocation

Well I've been bored and on vacation the past couple weeks, and when I get bored, I start to a) spend money on mods or b) tinker with what I've got. Being that I've got no money to spend, I went with option b. I've been focusing on cleaning up the engine bay...one of the things included relocating the TCS module. Seeing pictures of non-TCS cars, I always thought the engine bay looked much cleaner...besides, the throttle cables have already scuffed the paint on the tower and my strut-tower brace.. Thanks to SIC LSX for the tips and inspiration.

Here's a few shots from the process, took me a couple hours. I can post a detailed write-up on the process if anyone has an interest. I'm not done yet, so I apologize for the dirty engine bay...will post better pics when it's all finished.

!AIR is next on the list, I started thinking about it when I relocated the hood latch cable...it gives me a good reason to order a set of race-style QTP long tubes.

I have a cover for that red top that I'm going to fiberglass over, smooth out, and paint black...I'd have much rather had a yellow top, but it was free, so I can't complain.

To the thick wiring harness directly behind the ECU. I tried to find more secure ways of mounting the module, but without fabbing up a bracket to mount to the firewall, there's no real good way to do it. I have four heavy-duty ties on it, I don't think it's going anywhere, and I made sure the throttle cables weren't pinched or anything like that.

How did you manage to twist the cables that way round? they're pretty stiff! Did mine about a month ago, but the cables are banging on my polished strut brace, so I wanna get them as far under the cowl as possible!
I'm worried about kinking the cables though.

Mine didn't give me any problems, I was just careful not to force them to prevent kinking them as I worked them underneath the cowl.

I'm not sure if you've seen this write-up already but I'm throwing it out there for the people who haven't.

Did anyone actually bolt their unit to the car besides me?
If you bolt it under the cowl you can barely see it and it looks much cleaner.

Have any pictures? I'd like to see how you bolted it up. Did you make a new bracket, or modify the existing one on it?

I'm on a business trip right now or I'd upload a few.
(The pictures are on my desktop at home ... along with a partial write-up.)

The existing bracket worked just fine.

What I did was:
Removed the black plastic piece that covers the cowl.
Drilled a hole straight through it (from the top) where I wanted the ASR unit mounted.
Enlarged the hole on top so I could fit a socket through. (The cowl is hollow so by drilling down I created two holes.)
On the side of the existing ASR bracket where the electrical connector there was a hole in the bracket.
Put a bolt through the cowl then through that hole and then I tightened the **** down.

Another minor mod you can do is Goo Gone the fuse panels. Makes them nice and black to clean that up.
