Brake rotor question... Is this normal?
My passenger side rear rotor has about a 1/4 inch of play in it. When you take your rim and tire off, the rotor and stems should move as one right! I mounted my Drag Radials this morning and the driver side was normal but the passenger side had some play in it.
On the drivers side there are "star type washers" on (3) of the stems but there are none on the passenger side. What's the deal here? When I had my brakes done under warranty months ago did they forget those washers on my passenger side or is it something else causing the play in it?
Thanks for the help

Re: Brake rotor question... Is this normal?
The rotors are completely seperate from the studs. The studs are pressed through the hub behind the rotor and just stick through the holes in the rotor. The only reason you have play in it is the lack of those washers.
As far as I know, you don't need those washers. I've been without mine for about a year with no problems. The fronts didn't have them anyway.
When you tighten down your wheel studs, you are pressing the wheel against the rotor which presses it against the hub which is one reason it's important to torque your lug nuts correctly. If you don't, you'll probably hear alot more brake noise from the sloppy fit.
