Default Installing guages in A/C vents?

Can somebody give me some info about isntalling them in the A/C vents? Also, Besides the stuff that comes with the a tranny temp gauge itself, what else is needed to isntall one. What about a water temp guage? Is drilling into the tranny pan required or is there a way to get the signal from the PCM? thanks! How do I prevent air from blowing onto gauges? Any precautions? Thanks!

I measured my vents the other day. Each side is about 2.5" x 5". You could easy cram 2 2.25" gauges in each vent. Get some plastic stock and drill out 2 2.25" holes in it, and then glue it into place in the AC vent. That's about it. Maybe put another piece of plastic behind the gauges to divert air to the other side (if you're using the center vents). If you're using the side vents, I wouldn't really worry about it. The A/C doesn't get cold enough and the heat doesn't get hot enough to damage anything, I don't think. If you were really worried, you could just silicone the whole backside of the gauges to protect them a lil.

I'm curious though, does anyone have any pics of this? I could definitely sacrifice a vent for 2 more gauges (already have a 2 gauge a-pillar pod). Just wondering how it'll look.

Hehe, I think you think I am talking about a Camaro. I mean in a Trans Am with the round air vents that accomadate a 2 5/8" gauge perfectly. Any info on this, thanks for the help though!

DOH!

My bad. But yeah, you're right, many people have mounted them in there with no modification. I wouldn't worry about the airflow like I said.

I wonder if ANYONE has done them in a Camaro yet. From my measurements, it should be really easy.

It sure would, and if you made a little plastic trim plate, that would look really nice! <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
