Default Custom console lid

I have an idea in my center console lid. I want to make it a hard plastic type of finnish just like the rest of the console. How can I make it hard, not rubbery and spongie like it is now? Can I cover it with fiberglass resin & sand? I know I have seen it done to dashes & arm rests, but I don't know how. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks-

Yes you can fiberglass it. I used the dark carbon fiber colored fiberglass when I did it.
Remove the lid, spray in 3m adhesive, lay down the fiberglass, move it into the right place, apply resin, apply more resin, apply some more, let dry, sand down an *** load, bam you are done. Looks reallys good. You could either leave it as is or you could paint over it when you are finished.

1) Push it into some clay for a mold and then lay fiberglass...

2) Mail it to me and I'll drop it off at my plastic guy to thermal form a one-off for you...

Is that just a cover? Or a whole new arm rest?

It is a leather cover. No need for me to make them, you can already buy them here:

I just want another OEM replacement I guess. But, it's a damn 100 Bucks.

I don't really like the leather over lay. I want a complete one piece unit.
