4l60e tranny build....
I have a stock 4l60e on my 99 camaro z and im frettin that its gonna get blown in the process of building the car. New owner to these ls1 cars so some help would be much appreciated.
I decided to try a transgo shift kit, 3600 stall and a true cool 40,000 gvw tranny cooler.
Is this a safe set up? Anyone else run similar? Or any suggestions to keep my tranny safe?

those additions should obviously help the tranny but there is no guarantee!! especially if yur going to get it blown. i would just go ahead and get the transmission beefed up by one of our sponsors. FLT, PERFORMABUILT, ACE all make good transmissions. it makes no sense to get blown and then your tranny crap out.

Okay. Its just moneys tight so if you recommend "beefing" up the tranny then ill be doing it myself. Gears and clutch pack? For now i just want it to hold a cam. Is 3600 stall alright? or would you suggest another size?

some people have been able to make there tranny hold up while going with a cam. some people have had there tranny last for a long time on the stock tranny and throwing a cam and some guys have had there tranny crap out once they cammed it only a few days. so its hit or miss. the 3600 is a good all around size stall. lots of guys run that size. im running a vig 3200 which is really close to a 3600. i had about 47k on my car when i cammed it on the stock tranny. but i was paranoid as hell about it going out. so i beefed up my tranny as soon as i could without really driving my car much.
but seriously, give our sponsors a call. u need people that really know these transmissions. i hate seeing guys that say they have a built tranny but they keep having problems.
