Help! Okay i need some advice on what STR i should go with on my new stall. I was thinking of going with a 3800. The problem is i dont want it to be to loose. I like those highway runs every now and then! should i stay around a 2.0 STR. Need to buy a new tranny and stall ASAP...sorry, prolly could of searched but dont have that much time with work and school

For driveability on the street a 3800 with a str of 2.0 to 2.16 is very driveable.The higher the str the harder the converter hits the tires and the looser it drives. But in many instances the str being a little lower will actually outrun the higher str because the car will get better tractionresulting in better 60'. From what I've heard, you can't actually pic which str you get. Reason being a certain stator and turbin = X stall which = X str. I'm sure the torque from engine to engine will vary this, but you can't just say, " I want a 4500 stall with a 2.0 str ". Is this correct? I'm no converter manufacturer.

We can build your converter to the str you want within reason. Certain str's work better with different combinations.That is why I custom build each converter for each application.
