Default P1870 transmission slipping code. converter won't lock.

So I got three codes. I've posted this before cuz my 02 sensor got wet, but now i am pretty sure that sensor is bad.

I got these:

p0135
p0155
p1870

are the 135 and 155 both the driver side o2? i forget

The transmission just won't lock, this happened after normal driving. Was working fine and i got some gas and got back on the highway and it simply won't lock. I was simply wondering if a bad o2 can cause this issue?

P1870 do a google search very common on the 4L60E, there is a fix that has to do with replacing the valve body. I think one of the piston bores gets worn allowing fluid to leak past, not positive. I replaced one on my suburban, you can buy rebuilt valve bodies on ebay. Not hard to replace just make sure to get the screws in the right place or the long screws could crack the case.

thx mike, yea i did a search on the code before hand, i was just curious if a bad o2 could ever cause this, since i know a bad o2 can cause lots of other issues. looks like changing the tcc valve or something is usually the fix.

PO1870 Happens when the converter is commanded to lock and does not, So no the O2 sensors are not the issue if they through missfire or something were preventing lockup the command would never be given,
You problem is going to be TCC SOLENOID, PWM SOLENOID, WORN VALVE BODY, BAD TCC ORING ON INPUT SHAFT, BAD CONVERTER CLUTCH.

thanks performabuilt

one more question...this doesn't necessariliy mean the transmission is on it's last leg does it?

No not necessarily but converter damage is very likely

The worn valve bodies causing the P1870 code was mostly in the earlier models like 97-98. I doubt it's the valve body causing your problem. Check both solenoids first and if they check out good, its probably the converter.

I just had this same problem. The shop corrected it by eliminating PWM with a new valve and spring.
