Default Converter is going south!!! Should i....

Well my converter is going. My transmission is still alive but i need to know what I should do...

A. Get an aftermarket converter for my 2.73s (3000 2.5str)
or
B. Put another stock converter in(free) and upgrade from 2.73s to 3.23s

If it were me I would definately go with choice A. Only make it a 3500 stall. TCI SSF3500 2.5 str is a sweet choice for a good price. Just gears won't give you near SOTP feel that a good TC will. Plus you'll lose your dead spots.

BTW if you do upgrade gears I'd get the 3.42's. M6 guys swap them out all the time so a used set is always available for a real good price and IMO is the perfect gears for an auto. I wish GM gave them to A4's as standard like the M6's.

But I would do TC for sure as long as money is not a problem.

Good Luck

Money is a major issue. My car is an LT1 btw.. I was going to buy a whole rear end with 3.23s in it. He is going to give me his stock converter also. Im getting mixed opinions, some say do gears, some say converter and others say dont do a converter till you have money to rebuild the tranny =/

I would definitely do converter before gears. You will see better gains with it, especially if you just going from 2.72s to 3.23s. How much money do you have to spend?
