700r4 to th350
700r4 to th350 just wondering what all would i need to get a th350 trans in my old truck. The truck is a 1990 gmc with a 700r4, its been replaced once and now that trans went out. I'm considering putting a th350 cause i can get one super cheap 75bucks, but i'm also wondering cause i know where a 4l60 is for cheap to, the plus to that would be getting to keep overdrive. Do 4l60s work in older vehicles, from what i understand the 4l60 isn't computer controlled but the 4l60e is. Any info appreciatted, i also know where i can geta 1ton van witha tbi 350 and 700r4 for 250 with a good trans an engine
700R4 and 4L60 are the same thing. A 4L60E is electronically shifted.
IMO you need to stop putting used transmissions in it and understand what you're getting because GM never put a 700R4 in a one ton anything. That van originally had either a th400 or a 4L80E.

If you put a th350 in place of a 700R4 you'd need to move the cross member and maybe drill new holes, I know there are predrilled holes for different transmissions in those trucks.
If you get a short tail th350 you'll need a longer driveshaft, if you get a long tail you can reuse the original.
You'll need to run a vacuum hose from the modulator to the intake manifold, and I'd try to hook up the kick down cable too, most people don't.
The shifter linkage should hook right up, PRND will be the same on the indicator but D (originally third) will be second and 2 will be first.
There are a million ways to get the speedo to work.
